A classic small town among the citrus groves of the Heritage Valley
Fillmore is a small, close-knit city in the Santa Clara River Valley, about halfway between Ventura and Santa Clarita on SR-126. Citrus and avocado orchards surround the town, the Topatopa Mountains rise to the north, and its walkable Central Avenue downtown still feels like a mid-century main street.
Buyers are often drawn by value and space: homes and lots are frequently less expensive than in the coastal and Conejo Valley cities, with a mix of early-1900s homes near downtown, post-war neighborhoods and newer subdivisions. Summers are warmer inland, and some outlying areas are in wildfire-hazard zones.
Sespe Creek flows out of the Los Padres National Forest just north of town, and the Sespe Wilderness beyond it is known for rugged backcountry and the condor sanctuary. Lake Piru Recreation Area offers camping, boating and fishing. City parks and ball fields serve local neighborhoods.

Electricity: Southern California Edison (SCE) owns the lines, reads the meter and sends the bill (sce.com, 1-800-655-4555). Fillmore is not a Clean Power Alliance member, so SCE provides both delivery and power supply inside city limits. Unincorporated areas around Fillmore (Bardsdale, Piru) are in unincorporated Ventura County, which is enrolled in Clean Power Alliance with a 100% Green Power default. Customers can switch tiers or opt out at cleanpoweralliance.org or 888-585-3788.
Natural gas: Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) (socalgas.com, 1-800-427-2200). Some rural and hillside homes use propane instead, so check the listing.
Water and sewer: City of Fillmore, billed monthly by the City. Rural parcels outside the city may use wells, mutual water companies and septic.
Trash and recycling: E.J. Harrison & Sons for the City of Fillmore (805-647-1414).
Internet: Spectrum (cable) is the most common wired option; Frontier or AT&T offer DSL or fiber depending on the neighborhood, and fixed-wireless (T-Mobile, Verizon) and satellite services fill gaps. Look up the exact address on the FCC National Broadband Map.
